    Genesee Lake School (which is 100% employee owned!) is a nationally recognized and respected provider of therapeutic educational, residential, and vocational services to children and adolescents with developmental disabilities.  Our beautiful campus in the countryside outside of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, is an ideal setting for our students to learn, grow, and achieve their maximum potential. 


    We are excited to announce that we are now seeking a Farm Operations Coordinator to join our team at Homegrown Farms!  The mission of Homegrown Farms is to enrich the lives of Genesee Lake School students through year round educational, vocational, and therapeutic opportunities focusing on a connection with the natural world, food production, and the dignity of meaningful work.  Homegrown Farms contains 52 acres of rich organic farmland planted with 2 acres of mixed vegetables such as potatoes, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, and beans, and 50 acres of row crops such as dry beans, sunflowers, buckwheat, and corn.  



    • Provides supervision, guidance, and support to all farm, retail hut, and seasonal staff including day-to-day operation oversight.
    • Determines and monitors allotted hours for seasonal positions.
    • Collaborates with Vocational Services on creation of student jobs, education and program integration into farm operations, and ensuring safety measures for students.
    • Meets with the Vocational Program Director and Field Manager to manage field production including planting schedules.
    • Attends meetings with GLS Food Services and group homes to determine the quantity, variety, and delivery schedule for food produced for student/staff meals.
    • Maintains relationships with wholesalers.
    • Creates Greenhouse planting plan and maintains inventory of spring plants and flowers.  Consults and plans with Vocational Director for supplies, plant pricing, expense, and revenue related to selling season.
    • Oversees and manages planting, growing, and watering of plans during production season and extended season.
    • Coordinates all facets of Retail Hut operation.
    • Manages animal care.
    • Manages building and equipment maintenance.
    • Performs any job on the farm or at a retail hut as needed.


    • Must be at least 21 years old
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or Business OR 4 years of experience in large farm operation, horticulture, agriculture, or farm management required.
    • Farm management experience required.
    • Previous supervisory experience required.
    • Experience operating machinery and general mechanical knowledge preferred.
    • Maintains a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and meets company driving eligibility standards
