    Genesee Lake School is a nationally recognized private, employee owned residential and day school dedicated to improving the lives of children, adolescents, and young adults with developmental disabilities, mental health disorders, neurological disorders, or emotional disturbances.  In addition, we offer specialized programs for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Mood and Anxiety Disorders, and Complex Trauma.  As a Council on Accreditation certified residential treatment program, we follow an individualized, person-centered, and integrated team approach, emphasizing positive behavioral support, therapeutic relationships, and developmentally appropriate practices.  Our 160 acre campus in the wooded Wisconsin countryside is a calm and nurturing setting where students from around the country gain the skills and experiences necessary to successfully return to their families, school districts, and communities.  Our goal at Genesee Lake School is to provide an innovative and enriching environment for the students in our care to learn and experience all that life can offer – to provide a place to grow.


    We are now hiring for a Registered Nurse within our Health Services department.  Typical hours are weekday day shift, however this position will be required to work some evening and weekend hours on a rotation.


    • Completes medical treatments
    • Assesses students and oversees health care for the students at GLS
    • Administers medication
    • Attends to all emergency nursing needs as they arise
    • Liaison to health services and the contracted physicians at GLS
    • Ensures that all necessary authorization from consulting physicians has been obtained and used according to licensing requirements
    • Investigates all medication errors and reports incidents per state regulations
    • Oversees the medication errors and reports incidents per state regulations
    • Oversees the destruction of medications per licensing regulations
    • Conducts/writes trainings and educates staff regarding any health care needs of the students
    • Other duties as assigned by Health Services Director


    • Must be at least 21
    • Licensed RN OR LPN who is currently enrolled in an RN completion program
    • Demonstrated skills working with children in a nursing role
    • Experience in residential treatment and/or psychiatric nursing with experience in student treatment with emotionally disturbed or intellectually disabled students preferred
    • Current and continued status as an agency approved driver
    • Satisfactory performance and attendance record
